Position Summary
The American Chemical Society is seeking a graphic designer to join our dynamic and award-winning design team. The candidate is responsible for the production of high-quality visual assets for print and digital projects. Applies visual and technical design excellence to support the execution of creative concepts. Works closely with the creative director to enhance and innovate marketing strategies. Follow established visual identity guidelines while serving as a brand advocate for all ACS colleagues.

 

Here’s what you will be doing:

  • Produce graphics for print, digital, email, social
  • Leverage technical and aesthetic expertise in developing layouts and visual assets to increase the impact of ACS.
  • Ensure design compliance with project needs and visual brand standards 
  • Support the development and execution of stunning creative concepts 
  • Attend and participate in collaborative brainstorming sessions 
  • Work with a broad range of internal stakeholders to complete projects on time and on brand 
  • Maintain and improve digital assets systems
  • Actively seek and incorporate feedback on project contributions 
  • Build and maintain a mastery of emerging design trends and best practices 
  • Produce multiple versions of assets according to each channel’s requirements
  • Manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment  

 

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Curious about science.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, Graphic Design or related field 
  • 5+ years of graphic design experience in a corporate or agency setting 
  • A strong portfolio with impactful, imaginative design work for print and digital 
  • Experience designing end-to-end creative solutions from concept to pre-production 
  • Ability to effectively present and support design recommendations according to the project brief 
  • Willingness to contribute to creative development and brainstorming sessions 
  • Comfortable working with a range of internal stakeholders across multiple departments 
  • Outstanding written, verbal and visual communication skills 
  • Exceptional time management skills and attention to detail 
  • Expert with Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g.: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) 
  • Expert with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with storyboard and motion design 
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, animation, and Ceros is a plus.

Position Summary

 

Location:

This position will be primarily based in the Washington, D.C. office. The Comminucations Division employees work a hybrid schedule, consisting of working onsite two days per work, as decided by functional area. The balance of the week is open to working remotely, though employees are always welcome onsite each day if they choose.
