CAS is currently seeking a Data Architect.  This position will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.



The data architect is responsible for planning activities that define the information needs and design the data master blueprints to meet those needs within the context of all enterprise architecture and the connections with information systems, information technologies, and solutions. The person is responsible to provide high quality data and to identify and define common information requirements and design conceptual structures and plans to meet the current and long-term data requirements.




· Design and own data architecture leveraging latest technologies and architectural framework to support and enable best in-class data solutions

· Work directly with key stakeholders to capture and maintain existing elements of the enterprise data architecture

· Design complex data models that help solve business problems, leveraging the latest data modeling techniques and concepts

· Evaluate proposed initiatives to ensure they meet business and technology goals and adhere to governance standards

· Contribute to domain-level architecture activities

· Enable the product and technology teams to increase pace and efficiency through the data architecture

· Communicates current and future plans around data architecture activity to stakeholders

· Uses a consultative and enabling approach when requests for expertise are raised

· Expertise in schema development by converting conceptual data models into physical schema of monolithic and distributed datastores, and optimization for performance, data storage, ingestion and consumption patterns.

· Expertise in various techniques of conceptual and physical data modeling like, ER modeling, Dimensional modeling, Graph data modeling, Time-Series data modeling, etc.

· Experience with document-oriented data formats and forms including XML, JSON, AVRO and similar formats

· Demonstrated experience in designing data architecture of a variety of systems including but not limited to, monolithic and distributed Data Warehouses, OLAP systems, OLTP systems, Data Marts, Graph-based systems

· Knowledge of Big Data processing, particularly related to knowledge graph construction.

· Strong programming knowledge in one or more programming or scripting languages (for example: Python, Spark, spark streaming, SQL, or XQuery)

· Understanding of Data integration and integration architectures including Master Data Management

· Knowledge of Ontologies and application of ontology to document oriented data

· Understanding of large data processing and document handling techniques in AWS

· Experience with AWS specifically in data warehousing




· 4 Year BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field

· 5 years working experience in a data architect role

· In-depth experience of designing and implementing information solutions.

· Hands-on experience implementing data and analytics management programs is preferred

· Experience working in an agile shop

· Strong listening skills with ability to reflect back on what was heard

· Familiarity with UML would be a plus

· Exposure to various security and data privacy regulations like, GDPA.

· Ability to build consensus, demonstrate internal consulting skills, create business understanding and provide architectural oversight

· Effective conceptualization, pattern recognition and teaming skills.

· Presentation and facilitation skills.

· Design-thinking skills.
