CAS is currently seeking an Innovation Analyst.  This position will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

 

Qualifications:

  • Executes qualitative and quantitative data analytics for Innovation opportunities.  Utilizes an array of analysis techniques that meets CAS’ high standards for quality and efficiency, so that the Innovation team and senior leadership can make informed decisions on opportunities.  Performs analyses in a timely manner to meet project deadlines.
  • Translates data into actionable insights. Synthesizes data points to extract novel learnings against business, customer, and technical hypotheses.  Develops models to size opportunities and evaluate scenarios.  Builds succinct communications to educate and influence senior leaders and help advance initiatives; translates complex stories to simple stories.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on data and analytics.  Acquires and comprehends internal and external data to build thought leadership for the organization on market intelligence, trends, customer behavior, and scientific and technological advancements.  Is the “voice” of the data.  Develops recommendations on new techniques and toolsets for adoption by the Innovation organization.
  • Fosters a learning organization.  Role models learning agility by continually building knowledge and understanding of customer, business, and technical domains relevant to the position.  Trains/educates other team members where appropriate.
  • Supports continuous improvement of the organization.  Actively participates in teams and programs to help improve organization effectiveness, efficiency, and currency.  Helps define and implement metrics, KPI’s and success criteria to measure team performance.
  • Mitigates risk and solves problems.  Exercises good judgment, creativity, and skill in identifying and solving problems that can often be ambiguous in nature.  Flexible and adaptable to rapidly changing environments.  Triangulates effectively and exercises 80/20 judgement when appropriate.  Escalates issues appropriately, promptly, and proactively with leadership, HR, or other contacts.
  • Role models collaborative behavior and team orientation. Builds effective relationships with team members and helps ensure alignment across the team, management, and stakeholders.  Collaborates across functions to optimize and align processes, practices, policies, tools, technologies, and culture. 
  • Performs to the highest levels of integrity and ethics.  Exercises utmost integrity and maintains sound business ethics when conducting activities and engaging with internal and external stakeholders.  Maintains confidentiality and compliance to CAS policies.
  • Champions diversity, cultural and other changes using best practices and in tandem with leadership and Human Resources.  Enhances change agility for self and others.

Minimum Education/Experience/Competencies/Technological Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, science, mathematics, statistics, informatics or other quantitative discipline required. Graduate degree in chemistry, science, business, statistics or related field highly preferred
  • Significant coursework or 1 year of experience in informatics within a scientific field required
  • Proficiency with statistics, statistical analytical methods and modeling required
  • Financial modeling proficiency desired, but not required
  • Experience working on cross-functional projects within a matrixed environment desired
  • Experience synthesizing complex data sets, extracting insights, and translating into actionable, understandable recommendations highly preferred
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, with ability break complex problems down into actionable parts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good communicator
  • Intellectually curious with a strong desire to learn
  • Customer and user orientation – naturally thinks customer and user experience first when evaluating opportunities
