CAS is currently seeking a Business Intelligence and Analytics Program and Data Literacy Manager. This position will be based in our headquarters in Columbus, OH.

Division Overview

 

Business Intelligence & Analytics is responsible for the strategy, roadmap, implementation, and management of enterprise business data and data usage in partnership and collaboration across CAS business areas. BI&A delivers complex, cross-departmental analytics projects, monitors the accuracy of the data, and drives adoption and measures impact to the business. BI&A is responsible for enabling the business users with training and tools through technical and non-technical learning programs like data literacy.

 

Position Summary

 

The Business Intelligence and Analytics Program and Data Literacy Manager will drive the design and implementation of data-centric programs. These programs will support our business users’ ability to read, write, and communicate with data, in partnership with Learning & Development and teams. Our Data Literacy program will support business users at all levels, from data creators, data analysts, to executive leadership. This program will drive the understanding of how data connects to a users’ role and supports our enterprise in actively managing and improving the input and use of data, following our Data Policy & Standards, and adhering to regulatory and compliance requirements.

 

 

Position Accountabilities

 

  • Drive the design, development, launch, and management of our Data Literacy program.
  • Manages the mapping of educational content to data personas (e.g., frontline colleagues, data practitioners, managers, and leadership) in tight alignment with Learning and Development.
  • Create Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to measure the success of Data Literacy execution.
  • Acts as a change agent across organizational boundaries.
  • Measures and reports project/program performance, milestones, and other project information to stakeholders and senior management on a regular basis, including escalating issues that require management attention.
  • Works across functional areas to lead upstream data improvement initiatives.
  • Supports the intake process and continuous improvement measurement of impacts to the business through an agile delivery approach.
  • Manage programs and projects of strategic or foundational importance to the CAS enterprise, with organizational complexity across all functions, of large- to extra-large size resources/cost relative to the CAS strategic portfolio. May include cross-functional impacts across the Society.
  • Ensure measures are taken in projects to increase quality and mitigate risk, including risk analyses, impact assessment, needs assessment, requirements signoff, code reviews, test planning and execution, fallback plans, and deployment plans.
  • Measure and report project performance, project milestones, and other project information to project stakeholders and senior management on a regular basis, including escalating issues that require management attention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

      

 

Education/Experience/Technological Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required.
  • Master’s/Advanced Degree preferred, in business, management, information systems, computer science or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
  • Minimum of 5 years of applied experience designing, solving, managing, facilitating, and delivering business impact with data, analytics, and impactful communications.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing curriculum with learning outcomes and instructional design.
  • Knowledge of data literacy concepts, best practices, and tools
  • Familiarity with data and analytics terminology, methodology, tools, and software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Proficient in performing complex tasks involving datasets and statistics.
  • Experience in the Scientific or Chemistry information field highly desired.
  • Knowledgeable about agile tactics and methodology.
  • Possesses solid leadership, communications, and program leadership skills with the ability to successfully mobilize diverse resources and project teams across a wide variety of areas/functions/levels to effectively manage large, complex projects simultaneously required; demonstrates critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills; adept in change management; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

 

While performing the responsibilities of the position, the worker may exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently or 50 pounds occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. The worker is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands. The worker is required to talk and hear. The worker is often required to use their wrists, hands and/or fingers, to handle, grasp or feel; making substantial movements.  The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.
