CAS is currently seeking a Senior Manager of Reliability and Operations.  This position will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.


The Infrastructure and Operations Manager reports to the Director of Information Technology and is responsible for managing a team that provides technical support and maintenance for all existing IT infrastructure and endpoint devices. This position will assist the Director in setting operations policies and procedures, key performance metrics, and developing operations, organizational and infrastructure strategy.


The candidate is expected to be self-motivated, proactive and solution-oriented. They must be willing to mentor and challenge their staff, lead technical projects, assist team members in meeting their individual goals and to promote a positive attitude and work culture. The Infrastructure and Operations Manager has overall accountability for the work of their team, supporting their staff, coaching and mentoring their staff in their diagnosis and root cause analysis techniques. What does a typical day as Infrastructure and Operations Manager look like?

· Writing or reviewing staff reports recommending new technology.

· Preparing and presenting a staff presentation.

· Collaborating with other departments to identify and implement enterprise technology solutions that are consistent with industry best practices.

· Engage with technology vendors and partners to work on technology procurement and optimize costs.

· Travel to technology conferences to learn about the latest trends and network with industry peers.

· Chatting about a stretch assignment with your staff to help them advance their career.

· Brainstorming ideas with the Information Technology Leadership team on how to address strategic issues.

· Meeting with peers in other departments to develop relationships and keep abreast of what’s going on outside Information Technology.

· Gathering with staff to celebrate the completion of a successful project.

· Helping your team expand use cases for identity management and automation.

· Guiding the team through troubleshooting solutions to complex problems.

· Providing technical expertise to staff who just need that outside perspective on a problem.

· Assisting with the development of requests for proposals and contracts for technical infrastructure equipment and services.


What you'll need

Key Responsibilities

· Manage a 24x7 production support team responsible the delivery of our internal and externally hosted applications.

· Work with other Directors and Managers throughout the organization as well as other IT areas to ensure internal and customer support needs are addressed as efficiently and effectively as possible.

· Work with the IT leadership team to develop effective change management, documentation and service level agreements to ensure maximum up time during any system or software change, test, upgrade, repair or vendor maintenance issue.

· Drive technical staff to monitor and resolve customer issues and accomplish objectives.

· Establish and assure adherence to the network operations and infrastructure budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements.

· Evaluate Information Technology infrastructure for hosting environment best suited to organizational goals, whether cloud or on-prem.

· Develop and execute plans to implement major technology upgrades including scaling already in place enterprise systems.

· Assist and advise in the areas of security, backup and recovery, and the logistics of contingency planning.

· Establishing process improvement plans to reduce support effort, cost of operations and increase application/ infrastructure availability and scalability, especially in regard to hosted or hybrid cloud infrastructure and application design.

· Assist in capacity planning of infrastructure scalability and architectural design.

· The manager must also develop and enforce IT policies for numerous areas in his/her domain.



· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with other non-technical departments in a clear way that provides an understanding and inspires confidence in the team's ability to deliver complex technical solutions.

· Strong personnel management skills with ability to manage and resolve conflict.

· Experience leading IT infrastructure projects and driving them to completion on time and within budget following project management framework.

· Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.

· Process design and implementation skills.

· Experience with:

· Windows system administration

· Designing and managing networks (LAN/WAN)

· Managing, monitoring, and supporting network security systems

· Monitoring platforms (for network, server, application monitoring)

· Virtualization technology

· SaaS-based hosting operations

· Storage Technology (NAS, SAN, Cloud)

· Supporting telecom solutions (VOIP)

· Automated software distribution / deployment

· Identity automation systems

· Self-motivated with ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.

· Effective analytical, consulting, negotiating, and meeting facilitation skills.


Experience & Education

· Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or a closely related course of study, and

· Five years of progressively responsible experience in maintaining operations and technology, including supervisory experience

· Masters degree in Computer Science, Public or Business Administration or related field, highly desirable
