The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) publishes more than 65 peer-reviewed journals (and growing) focused on chemistry and chemistry-related topics. The Division has domestic facilities in Washington, D.C. and Columbus OH, as well as worldwide operations in a growing number of international locations including but not limited to the UK, Singapore, India, and China. The Division’s Global Sales, Operations and Business Analytics department based in Columbus is responsible for all revenue generating activities including the sales, operational systems and support, ecommerce both B2B & B2C solutions.  The team is also responsible for the development of the tools and integrity of the organization’s enterprise business data and dissemination.

 

As a member of the Global Sales Team, the primary role of the Sales Support Analyst is to track, research, compile, analyze and act upon a complex set of data relating to institutional customer accounts for ACS Publications Division products., including the following tasks:

  • Performs account maintenance and support of our academic, corporate, and government customers.  This includes day to day customer interactions, order processing, product licensing and general account maintenance and analysis in an effort to allow the sales team to grow revenue.
  • Has responsibility for the setup and renewal of academic, corporate, and government customer sales agreements, including proper licensing documentation, accurate and acceptable IP range verification, and providing a smooth transition from customer acceptance to account activation. This may include completion of international tender documents (including the scope of work, contract conditions, and technical specifications), business review of contracts within established ACS guidelines and policies, Tax forms, taking billing questions, researching problems, reviewing pricing exceptions, and providing timely follow-up to provide complete resolution.
  • Ensures compliance with Global Tender Management process.
  • Analyze tender and distribute tasks to internal stakeholder, and review/validate information received.
  • Prepares pre-qualifications for tenders in accordance with the tender guidelines.
  • Organizes the workload of the tender to achieve tender completion on time in order that the necessary approvals are obtained prior to submission to clients.
  • Ensures positive customer experience throughout the sales process
  • Assists in the development and evaluation of pricing suggestions for each renewal season, including presentations to all levels of colleagues and management.
  • Interacts regularly with field and inside sales staff, business partners, vendors and academic, corporate, and government customers. This includes analyzing customer terms and usage and making recommendations to the sales team to contribute to renewal negotiations.
  • Enters, tracks, and monitors customer interactions and feedback to improve customer relationships; helps sales staff preempt customer issues; identifies customer utilization patterns to assist sales in account strategies; and identifies possible up-sell opportunities when appropriate.
  • Provides backup support for territory account managers as required.
  • Supports sales evaluations, including providing inputs on customer issues and feedback to drive changes in sales administration where necessary.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in a sales/sales support environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of directly relevant experience: 5 years of directly relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. High School Diploma required.
  • Experience with Salesforce and other CRM tools a plus.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office products with an emphasis on Excel and an aptitude to learn and use other web-based applications with comfort and efficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with staff, managers, vendors, and customers at all levels both domestically and internationally.
  • Unwavering commitment to accuracy in and resolution of all tasks – whatever it takes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of the publishing industry preferred but not required.
  • Experience with international tender process.

 

This position will be primarily based in the Columbus, OH office. ACS has currently adopted a hybrid work arrangement of three days per week working in the office and two days per week working remotely.  ACS offers relocation assistance, if applicable.
