Position Summary

ACS Communications division is searching for an assistant director of sales to create and execute strategies for the development of all advertising, corporate, and strategic alliances for the society. The Managing Director, Sales & Strategic Partnerships is responsible for driving $8 million-plus in revenue generation, business development, – as well as setting and meeting revenue strategies for many of ACS key programs: ACS Meeting & Exposition, Advertising Sales, and corporate sales for the society. The incumbent will oversee a network of internal and external sales representatives, and also negotiate and manage several key accounts for our custom content studio, C&EN BrandLab.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages two (2) internal direct reports and network of nine (9) external sales representatives.
  • Provides strategic and operational oversight for all revenue generation: advertising, custom publishing, event sponsorships and exhibits, educational partner content, and strategic partnerships.
  • Develops and executes strategic sales plans that appropriately position ACS' brand, audience, and member benefits within the marketplace
  • Develops sales and revenue goals and manages/reports on progress
  • Creates and monitors individual and representative sales plans in line with ACS' long term strategies to maximize growth. Responsible for budgets, forecasts and revenue necessary to execute all plans within areas of responsibility
  • Executes biweekly sales meetings, leads training and development for the sales team, and collaborates with the operations manager to execute the annual sales meeting.
  • Provides strategic counsel and direction of the ACS Member Benefit Affinity program; negotiates with partners to provide offerings to drive member retention
  • Collaborates with all ACS divisions and departments on partnership sales strategies that position ACS products and services as indispensable resources for chemistry professionals and fulfill ACS' strategic directive
  • Represents ACS at annual meetings and industry conferences and events. Future travel expectations up to 20% (when safe to do so depending on Covid-19 precautions)

 

 Required Experience:

10+ years experience.  Undergraduate degree in business, advertising, or marketing or relevant work experience.
