Position Summary

The Communications Specialist coordinates and supports internal ACS communications across a range of communication channels from an email newsletter to slideshows. Responsibilities include gathering, writing, and editing content and creating well-designed visual materials. The incumbent will ensure consistent, brand-compliant, grammatically correct messaging in all ACS communications and providing support to internal units as needed.

 

Position Accountabilities

  • Write, edit, and coordinate content for internal communication channels, including a weekly email newsletter and a monthly staff publication, ensuring that content is grammatically correct. Work with staff to clarify and improve messaging. Support digital products by providing usage statistics, converting and checking files, and cleaning up HTML as needed.
  • Work across ACS to gather, present, and update key information about the organization for use in slide presentations, talking points, fact sheets, flyers, and speeches. Develop well-designed visual materials. Ensure that content is ACS-brand compliant and grammatically correct.
  • Support organization-wide communications by coordinating and editing broadcast messages and by contributing to the annual report and other projects. Work with staff to clarify and improve messaging. Ensure that content is ACS-brand compliant and grammatically correct.
  • Support programs across the organization by developing content and/or activities to promote staff engagement and the exchange of information across all ACS locations.

 

Position Requirements

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public relations, communications, or similar field required. Ability to write and edit on deadline is required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Skills in web publishing and HTML are helpful. Desktop publishing and graphics experience are a plus. Experience with nonprofit, membership organization is a plus.
