Division and Department

 

The Sales and Marketing Department is responsible for developing marketing strategies and implementing sales programs for the ACS Publications Division’s product lines. Inherent in this is analyzing all results and recommending future direction for the marketing and positioning of ACS Publications’ products within the chemical/scientific community marketplace. The Marketing Department is committed to building a better online, purchasing, and reading experience, as well as improving the scholarly research and communications environment for both the customer and the end user. Key constituents include institutional librarian administrators, corporate librarians, authors, reviewers, ACS members, editors, and the range of end-users (subscribers and non-subscribers).

 

The Marketing team is tasked with developing ongoing conversations and strengthening relationships to instigate positive brand recognition and ultimately increase sales and revenue for an extensive portfolio of journals, eBooks and other digital products. A core group within the Marketing team is the Content Marketing and Lead Generation group, responsible for the marketing plans of over 50 journals, the society’s premiere blog ACS Axial (axial.acs.org) and the division’s marketing automation system.

 

Position Summary

 

The Marketing Operations Specialist is a key member of the ACS Publications sales and marketing team. This position will have a hands-on role in building the infrastructure for and executing major centralized campaigns, working with the marketing team to develop effective campaigns, and with the marketing operations team for ACS Publications within our marketing automation environment.  The roles will also become the team expert on campaign design, optimization and impact. This role will work directly with the marketing teams to help them develop innovative and effective campaigns through the use of marketing automation and other technologies, with a focus on excellent campaign, program and asset design. The Marketing Operations Specialist will use their knowledge of systems, data, analytics, and industry best practice to improve the effectiveness of marketing initiatives. Position reports to Manager, Marketing Operations, and works in collaboration with the Marketing Automation Strategist. 

  

Position Accountabilities

 

  1. Work with regional marketing teams to develop high quality and effective marketing campaigns to meet team and divisional objectives.
  2. Provides support to the marketing team for Eloqua and other marketing platforms and manages the request ticket system.
  3. Develop new workflows to assist marketing team in developing and executing highly successful integrated marketing campaigns.
  4. Manages day-to-day processes, data and improvements to the marketing automation environment.
  5. Create best practice documentation and train teams to maximize success and return on investment.
  6. Create and manage a reporting and analysis structure around marketing campaigns that demonstrates effectiveness and ROI, reporting these results to individual team members and management.
  7. Communicate goals, initiatives and results of the use of ACS Publication’s marketing automation and journal marketing campaigns internally and cross divisionally.
  8. Work with Marketing Operations Manager and Marketing Automation Strategist to improve marketer and user experience across our digital landscape.

 

Education/Experience/Technological Knowledge

 

Requires Bachelor's Degree with 0-2 years of related experience. Marketing automation platform experience essential, and Eloqua-specific experience preferred. Proficiency in HTML and CSS highly desired. CRM or database experience is desirable, as is direct experience working in a marketing operations function.
