The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS Publications) publishes over 75 high-quality scholarly journals focused on chemistry and chemistry-related topics. It thus provides its members and the worldwide scientific community with a comprehensive collection of high-quality information products and services for the practice and advancement of the chemical sciences.    

 

Department Overview

The Global Marketing Department within ACS Publications is responsible for developing marketing strategies and integrated campaign plans to engage our target audience and strengthen our relationships with them. The Department’s objectives for engaging our audience are to increase the brand equity and, ultimately, enable the revenue capture for the Division’s product lines of over 75 journals, eBooks, and a range of digital offerings. The current target audience includes researchers, authors, reviewers, editors, institutional/corporate librarians, and administrators, funders, ACS members, and the range of end-users. 

 


Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Global Marketing, the Marketing Programs & Projects Manager will bring highly analytical, organized, consultative, creative problem-solving, and strategic approaches to Marketing initiatives. The incumbent will support the Vice President, Global Marketing to implement programs and manage projects across the Marketing Leadership Team (MLT) members and/or the marketing functions. 

The in-office position is preferably based in Washington, D.C. (only)


Position Accountabilities

  1. Support the definition & implementation of marketing programs and projects.
  2. Contribute, as needed, to key initiatives initiated by the different marketing functions.
  3. Publish the Marketing team’s monthly report by leveraging content from each marketing function’s monthly report.
  4. Provide monthly tracking of marketing metrics that align to Division objectives
  5. Support the Vice President and the MLT with the agenda and execution of quarterly Marketing all-staff meetings.
  6. Facilitate the monthly and quarterly expense (vs budget) reconciliation process and support the annual budget planning process.

 


Education/Experience/Technological Knowledge 

MBA or Masters in Marketing, Business, or related field, along with the following qualifications:

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience across different marketing functions (product marketing, events marketing, email/digital marketing, etc.)
  • Experienced in both B2B and B2C marketing strategies and tactics.
  • An energetic and collaborative marketer with the highest level of personal accountability, keen attention to detail, and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional team members and influence colleagues effectively.  
  • A proven ability to quickly grasp new concepts, research and apply best-practices, and deliver measurable results.
  • A proven ability to multi-task and engage in multiple projects or initiatives concurrently.
  • Self-motivated, driven marketer who takes initiative, not waiting for nor needing detailed directions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent planning, implementation, and analytical skills. 
  • Expert in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in creative design tools (Adobe Creative Cloud), statistical analysis tools (SPSS), marketing automation tools (Eloqua, Marketo, Hubspot), market research tools (Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, TypeForm), and business intelligence tools (Qlik, Power BI, Tableau).

Division

Position Summary

This position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. (or applicable) office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, three days per week. ACS employees are in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday with the third in-office day scheduled in consultation with the manager. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other two days of the week from a location of their choice. New employees are immediately eligible for this hybrid work arrangement. ACS offers relocation assistance, if applicable.
