Division and Unit Overview
The Washington IT Division of the American Chemical Society provides to its members and the worldwide scientific community a comprehensive collection of high-quality information products and services for the practice and advancement of the chemical sciences. The Society and Administrative Technology (SAT) department is responsible for the Society (Customer-facing applications), Integrations, and Administration systems.   Through design and development, it is our responsibility to develop, manage, and deliver projects and solutions to support ACS members, volunteers, customers, and ACS staff. We intend to exceed the expectations of our business partners by anticipating, understanding and validating their business needs; providing useful, cost-effective solutions and support in a timely manner; adhering to established guidelines and standards; and continuously adapting to the evolving environment.

 

Position Summary
The Platform Architect is responsible for overseeing the development, expansion and maintenance of application platforms, with a primary focus on Adobe Magento eCommerce.   The Architect significantly contributes to identifying best-fit architectural solutions for Society IT projects.  Assists with the development design of other platforms including, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), and Mulesoft Anypoint platforms.  Will conrtribute to the corresponding organizational and changes needed to help the platforms become sustainable, provide regular support and guidance to project teams on complex coding, testing, deployment, upgrades, and execution.  Collaborates with other architects to create and implement high-quality solutions.  Effectively communicates physical architectural designs to technical and business partners and presents design options and considerations. 

 

Work design: Manages the digital transformation of ACS using the Magento, AEM, and Mulesoft platforms.  Works with customers and other architects to implement the technology that meets the business needs.  Participates in the full application life cycle from technical design to development, and from testing to support.  Utilizes and enhances the SAT and platform best practices and standards.  Works with the other data and integration teams to help grow the use data within ACS.  Follows the Agile Scrum practices that are used within SAT.  The position will report directly to the Assistant Director, Enterprise Development Group, and interface frequently with the Principle Solutions Architect.    

 

Required Skills:

Magento:

  • Magento 2.4.x experience
  • Enterprise level eCommerce experience
  • Demonstrated experience in leading development teams
  • Strong PHP skills
  • Mobile and Responsive web development
  • Strong understanding of the Magento System Architecture, Design, Theming, Functionality Enhancements, Configuration

Mulesoft:

  • Hold MuleSoft Architect Certification
  • Familiar with different MuleSoft offerings
  • Familiar with design patterns used with MuleSoft integrations and Salesforce
  • Familiar with 3rd Party MuleSoft Anypoint Connectors
  • Experience with MuleSoft On-Premise and Cloud solutions
  • Experience with messaging infrastructure and tools

 

Additional and Other Skills:

 

AEM:

  • Install and configure Adobe Experience Manager for on premise solutions or cloud based solutions.
  • Architect and design the component model that will be used to construct a Digital platform for both web and mobile using Adobe Experience Manager for global enterprises.
  • Install and configure Adobe Experience Manager for on premise solutions or cloud based solutions.
  • Architect and design the component model that will be used to construct a Digital platform for both web and mobile using Adobe Experience Manager for global enterprises.

Other:

  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • User-centered design process, UI / UX integration experience
  • Establishes and ensures appropriate governance functions for the program in accordance with ACS and SAT policies, practices and on behalf of the executive sponsor(s)

 

Required Experience

  • Excellent leadership, decision-making, and analytical skills required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and presentation skills required
  • Hands-on agile scrum methodology experience is a must
  • 2+ Magento experience
  • 2+ years of related Mulesoft experience
  • 3+ years of related AEM experience

Degree in Information Systems, Computer science preferred.
