Position Summary
The Office of Higher Education (OHE) promotes excellence and provides leadership in postsecondary chemistry education. The Program Manager for the Two Year College (2YC) program will oversee all aspects of collaborative work done with 2YC faculty, including the 2YC Faculty Workshop, development and promotion of the 2YC guidelines for chemistry, and the development of resources and programming that supports teaching and learning at the two year college level.
Work design: Demonstrates creativity and ingenuity to perform assignments and create solutions. Demonstrates increased comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures associated with post-secondary education. Nature of work includes identifying problems and providing solutions to resolve a variety of complex issues. Decision making involves setting priorities, evaluating results, and collaborating with others to formulate, interpret, policies or organizational practices to provide recommendations and solutions. The position reports directly to the Assistant Director.
Position Accountabilities
- Manages, administers, and helps develop content for professional development workshops for two-year college faculty.
- Manages the process, assists in the development of, and develops programming for the guidelines for 2YC programs, interacting with the academic community and governance.
- Manages the development of resources to support learning at the two year college level.
- Writes and edits communications to the community and governance units, including content for web site, training manuals, and newsletters.
- Assists with program and education data management, analysis, and evaluation.
- Assists the Education Division with special projects related to the higher education community.
Education/Experience/Technological Knowledge
Advanced degree in chemistry or chemical related science or equivalent experience, Ph.D. preferred; 8+ years of related experience. Experience in higher education and familiarity with current higher education practices, preferably in a two-year college environment. Ability to analyze and evaluate assessment and educational data. Excellent communication skills: Oral, written, and presentation. Excellent organizational and collaboration skills. The position requires approximately 16 travel days/year.

Position Summary
This position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, three days per week. ACS employees are in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday with the third in-office day scheduled in consultation with the manager. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other two days of the week from a location of their choice. New employees are immediately eligible for this hybrid work arrangement. ACS offers relocation assistance, if applicable.
