C&EN BrandLab is an award-winning custom content studio that offers branded-content services to C&EN’s advertisers, such as the creation of sponsored whitepapers and eBooks, social media campaigns, custom event activations, and native advertising. The content complements the award-winning editorial reporting of C&EN’s print magazine, which is available to more than 150,000 ACS members.

 

Position Summary

C&EN BrandLab seeks a Senior Account & Marketing Manager who thrives in a fast-paced setting and can own the management for multiple projects spanning across C&EN BrandLab’s product offerings and client portfolio. The Senior Account & Marketing Manager is an individual who has an eye for detail, impeccable organizational skills, and excels at balancing projects that can span across teams, clients, and timelines. As the Senior Account manager, they will serve as team lead  for an Associate Account & Marketing Manager, and assist with performance reviews, client management of projects, and lead overall marketing strategy for the content studio.  The role is responsible for creating compelling proposal presentations to potential clients that include the benefits of working with BrandLab, the program framework along with clear objectives and KPIs, and a budget. The Senior Account and Marketing Manager is responsible for delivering creative assets to clients on schedule and on budget at the quality for which C&EN BrandLab is known. In addition, the Senior Account & Marketing Manager will also work on marketing campaigns to promote C&EN Media Group’s product offerings.

Reporting to the Executive Editor of C&EN BrandLab, the Senior Account & Marketing Manager will serve as both a creative liaison and project lead, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Account & Marketing Manager will work with designers to ensure advertisers’ brand guidelines are incorporated into the designs created for their C&EN BrandLab projects. The Senior Account & Marketing Manager will also be responsible for managing project timelines and will work with clients, editors, design, and production teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time. Given the number of stakeholders involved in every project, the incumbent must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.

The successful candidate is a highly motivated professional responsible for maximizing the value of C&EN’s audience to science marketers by delivering excellent media products and services. The ideal candidate should have a firm grasp of how content marketing can deliver high-caliber content to clients. They are also a creative individual who can help identify new revenue-generating opportunities consistent with C&EN BrandLab operations.

 

Position Accountabilities

  1. Work with the Associate Account Manager, C&EN BrandLab and freelance designers to develop creative assets. Coordinate sharing of art concepts and deliverables between freelance designers, internal teams, and clients.
  2. Lead the creation of pitch decks for new projects, ensuring the inclusion of a compelling narrative that drives sales and appropriate budget.
  3. Develop and implement comprehensive timelines and deliverable schedules for all C&EN BrandLab projects by working with C&EN BrandLab staff, freelance writers and clients. Work with Senior Editor and Associate Account Manager of C&EN BrandLab and clients to define scope and content elements for creative assets.
  4. Collaborate with all relevant teams of C&EN (production, creative, marketing, social media, etc.) to ensure projects and programs are delivered on time and on budget.
  5. Lead status meetings with staff members and freelance designers, if needed, in an efficient and organized manner.
  6. Provides client support from pre-campaign to post-campaign wrap up and reporting.
  7. Collaborate with Associate Account Manager and Revenue Marketing Managers to develop and execute marketing campaigns and promotions for C&EN Media Group product offerings.

 

Required Education & Experience

Undergraduate degree in marketing, communications, or other relevant field of study required. Professional experience of 3-5 years in project management or marketing role in related publishing, ad agency, digital marketing, etc., are strongly preferred. Must demonstrate ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously and experience with client management is a plus. Position requires familiarity and experience with the Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, project management software and key social media platforms. Familiarity in working with creative projects and teams, as well as basic understanding of design programs is preferred. Position location

This position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. (or applicable) office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, three days per week. ACS employees are in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday with the third in-office day scheduled in consultation with the manager. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other two days of the week from a location of their choice. New employees are immediately eligible for this hybrid work arrangement. ACS offers relocation assistance, if applicable.
