The American Chemical Society is looking for a Senior Manager of Global Events. This role will be responsible for supporting the in person and virtual events strategy across the newly realigned sales and marketing unit. The position will spearhead and manage the annual global exhibit and events calendar for the society’s marketing team, and execute all key exhibits and events. The position coordinates with other Society staff, business units, and teams for successful in person marketing strategies and event activations.

 

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate and build relationships with marketing managers, program managers, and key stakeholder teams across the organization to develop strategic executions that brings ACS’ brand and messaging to life through external and internal experiential events.
  • Oversee and manage the organizational event calendar for the Sales & Marketing unit across virtual, hybrid, and in-person events. Prioritize and track the progress of programs, sponsorships, promotions, and contracts.
  • Direct the planning, management, and execution of all exhibits and events and effectively manages associated budgets and makes budget recommendations, as needed
  • Analyze data and provide insights as a result for future executions to ensure marketing efforts and program and brand experiences are optimized and align to ACS’ business objectives.
  • Evaluate event performance, including post event analysis, de-briefs and wrap-up reports
  • Support the global team in adapting marketing strategy to local markets. Indirect budget management and support.
  • Measure and track engagement and conversions, review campaign effectiveness, make recommendations for adjustments.
  • Serve as team lead for events and support the direction and work of an Events Coordinator and serve as the main point of contact for several key vendors.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in managing strategic marketing campaigns and initiatives that target global audiences.
  • Experience in advertising, marketing or/and communications fields with an emphasis on integrated, multi-channel marketing and event campaign activations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts and strategies, orally and in writing; Ability to effectively direct vendors in designing brand-compliant materials
  • Ability to identify relevant value in ACS programs, products, and services and adapt to resonate with key segments and local-global markets
  • Experience with Eloqua email/marketing automation platform or similar system, Google and/or Adobe CRM and Analytics, PowerPoint/multi-media presentation development skills
  • Ability to work independently, with strong prioritizing and decision-making skills , and adjust to short deadlines and quick project turnarounds

 

This position will be primarily based in the D.C. office. ACS offers hybrid work arrangement of three days per week working in the office and two days per week working remotely. New employees are immediately eligible for this hybrid work arrangement. ACS offers relocation assistance, if applicable.
