The American Chemical Society is currently looking for a Senior Organizational Development Consultant to join our Human Resources team.

Division and Unit Overview

At ACS, our employees are at the center of serving the world’s largest scientific membership association, its members, and constituents. The Society’s Human Resources team is responsible for developing and implementing human resource strategies and talent development programs for the American Chemical Society (ACS). The HR team has the challenge of achieving exceptional customer satisfaction, thus having a direct impact on the value and quality of HR solutions. The customer base is diverse, including current, former and potential employees, management business partners, American Chemical Society management and Executive Team, fellow HR Team members and outside vendors. The Sr. OD Consultant provides thought leadership and consulting services to key talent groups in support of company strategies and initiatives.

Qualifications:

College degree or equivalent experience; Masters of Organizational Development degree or equivalent preferred; six to eight years of related experience required.  Coaching and facilitation certification such as DiSC required. Strong interpersonal, project management and communication skills required.  Initiative is important, ability to collaborate and building strong partnerships in matrixed environment required.  Experience directly with instructional design, employee development, organizational design, competency development and evaluation required. The position requires 15-20% travel.

Duties:

This position plays a key role on high energy team focused on implementing and executing on our people development strategy.  The Senior Organizational Development consultant will bring their talent and expertise to build a culture of learning and development and a high achieving culture at the ACS.

This position reports to Director of Organization Effectiveness within Human Resources and is responsible for designing, developing and implementing programs that increase organizational effectiveness, including, but not limited to: training design and facilitation, new leader orientation, organizational assessments, leadership development, communication planning and implementation, leadership coaching, and training initiatives.

The incumbent will work with executive and senior leadership to identify organizational challenges and to set the targets of employee and leadership development, then lead the creation of OE activities and interventions to meet those targets, often incorporating behavioral science to enhance employee engagement and productivity.

Partners to develop planning and implementation of OE initiatives, including but not limited to organization analysis, design, and realignment; and leader and team effectiveness.

Monitors organizational culture and the development of culture-building initiatives that increase employee engagement and key organizational values and core competencies.

Assesses learning and development needs and develop effective learning and development strategies and materials to address those needs.

Is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering a variety of organizational development interventions such as team offsites and leadership retreats.

Leads communication plans and materials for specific programs, including delivering HR and OE-related presentations for large teams and leadership teams.

Collaborates with internal HR Business Partners to assess performance gaps and respond to organizational development issues through experiential programs to accelerate organizational capabilities.

Manages both internal and external customer relationships and expectations effectively; influences thinking surrounding complex organizational problems and enables the acquisition of new knowledge, skills, and behaviors.
